LISTEN to the free audio format of my award-winning novel here:

AMBRA EMERGED FROM the tunnel into a dimly lit, concave room with a low ceiling.

It was filled with electronic equipment — an assortment of screens filled with code, keyboards, and hard drives, gently blinking lights of all colours. Binders and papers were scattered over desks. Cables, screwdrivers, circuit boards, and soldering irons were strewn around the room. Stray coffee cups.

There was no one about.

‘Hello?’ she called, her voice sounding small.

There was a corridor off to the side, glowing with light. She made her way over to the entrance and peered around the corner. Voices drifted down the corridor, along with the sound of clanking cutlery and the smell of toasted sandwiches.

Slowly she moved towards the source of the sound. She was able to distinguish three different voices, all male. Her jaw clenched.
