LISTEN to the free audio format of my award-winning novel here:

AMBRA SWUNG HER legs over the side of the hammock and padded barefoot into the hut.

Outside, a gentle breeze blew through the palm trees as she opened her laptop and logged in to attend the online meeting that was about to start.

A year before, Ambra had quit her job and relocated to the Antipodes. It had not been a peaceful departure. A wry grin spread across her face as she recalled the stand-up row she’d had with her manager.

Now, anywhere with internet access was an office; anywhere could be home. She liaised with clients, and others she worked with — but no boss.

She stretched and yawned, pleased that she’d been able to have these few days at Kaihoka while the weather was warm, before heading home to Queenstown after a week consulting to a local authority on the North Island.
