AMBRA HURTLED DOWN the hill towards the campus on her bike, her friend Mike right behind her.
The previous month, Ambra and Mike had executed a direct action in the North Sea, scaling an oil rig and dropping a four-storey yellow banner that read ‘OIL IS FOR FOSSIL FOOLS’ in bold, black letters.
As a result of that stunt, which had attracted global media attention, they’d become cult heroes in the green movement and had been invited to address a meeting of The Eco-Crew, a newly formed network of local activists on their college campus.
And they were running late.
Breathless, they entered the appointed room, but instead of an expectant audience, they found a small crowd milling around, enjoying a shared supper.
